La Roche Posay is a French skin care line world renowned for their quality and dedication to scientific researched products. Highly recommended by dermatologists, La Roche Posay creates products for all skin types.

La Roche Posay has formulations for these skin types:

  • oily skin
  • dry skin
  • combination skin
  • problematic and highly sensitive skin

La Roche Posay has its roots in a small French village in the Vienne region. That region is known for it’s thermal spring water that people have been using since the 17th century. In fact, the first European Thermal Dermatology center was founded there. And ever since, that special thermal spring water has been used to treat skin conditions. That thermal spring water is a main ingredient in all of La Roche Posay anti aging products.

La Roche Posay is famous for applying the most current technology and scientific advances in dermatology to develop skin care products that target the protection of the skin from the harmful effects of the sun.

Mexoryl (ecamsule), a key ingredient in their sunscreen products was invented and patented by La Roche Posay. This highly effective component can only be found in their product lines such as Anthelios and Hydraphase.

La Roche-Posay treatments are formulated according to two fundamental principles: high standards and dermatological safety. The formulas are developed such that their concentration of active ingredients is very gentle on the skin, while remaining totally effective.

Year Round Sun Protection

Why Year Round Sun Protection?

We all know that sunscreen is a must on a hot summer day spent lazing by the pool. But did you know in addition to protecting us from looking like burnt bacon, a good sunscreen should also keep our skin looking youthful and healthy by preventing everyday damage from the sun?

First, it’s important to realize that the sun’s rays are composed of 3 types:

  • UVA
  • UVB
  • UVC

UVC rays are not a concern because they burn off before they reach the earth.

UVB rays are the ones we’re familiar with - they are shorter UV rays and they’re the ones associated with nasty sunburns that many of us suffered as children.

On the other hand, UVA rays are longer rays and they penetrate much deeper into the skin. While their short-term effects aren’t as apparent, over the longer term they contribute to skin aging. They can break down the skin’s collagen and elastin, which gives young skin its elasticity and structure, the components that give your skin that firm, smooth feel and appearnce. Additionally, UVA rays contribute to age spots and some types of skin cancers.

Unlike UVB rays, which are prevalent primarily in the summer between the hours of 10 am and 4pm, UVA rays are around year round, regardless of the weather!

They penetrate through clouds and haze and even pass through windows. So don’t think you’re protected if you sit inside by a desk all day, especially if that desk is next to a window. That’s why it’s important to have year round sun protection.

The best year round sunscreens should deliver protection from both UVA and UVB rays. Not only will it protect us from sunburns, but it will also help to keep our skin looking smooth and youthful.

The sunscreen you select should also be photostable, meaning that it won’t break down when exposed to sunlight, like many of the sunscreens on the market today.

La Roche Posay’s Anthelios line of sunscreens with Mexoryl contain a patented combination of photostable, broad spectrum UVA and UVB sun filters that deliver excellent protection in a range of formulations suitable for all skin types. Mexoryl is an excellent UVA blocking sun filter plus titanium dioxide and octinoxate to deliver a complete UV blocking action. It’s perfect for most skin types (except oily or sensitive) and allows you to moisturize and protect in one convenient step.

La Roche Posay’s Anthelios line offers a complete range of products for everyone’s needs, including:

So the next time someone tells you that you’re looking really youthful lately. Tell them it’s no wonder. “I have the best year round sun protection available anywhere!”
